Alleluja

Alleluja is a series of motets written for soprano solo, mixed (SATB) choir and organ, with an optional part for orchestra.

The work combines two great musical traditions: the Scottish ballad song and the polyphonic motet. It tells the story of Easter, Ascension-tide and Pentecost interspersed with a sequence of dramatic choral allelujas.

Alleluja was first performed on 1 April 2006 by Medici Choir at St Peter's Church, Eaton Square, London, where it was critically acclaimed as 'a masterpiece', 'exciting, uplifting, joyful and beautiful'.

Movements can be performed separately and, as such, provide ideal anthems for the seasons of Easter, Ascension-tide and Pentecost. In this role, the various Alleluja choruses are interchangeable and choirs can choose the one(s) that suit(s) them best!
