Medici Choir's first trip abroad was to Paris, back in January
2000, as part of the International Amateur Choir Festival.
We joined choral groups from all over Europe, and took part in
several concerts at high profile venues, such as the UNESCO
Palace and the Grande Arche de la Defense (right).
The choir took over a small hotel in Montmartre, not far from
the famous Sacre Coeur church.

on the hour, every hour, to celebrate the new millenium.

Our repertoire was a mixture of songs with an English flavour -
from old 16th-century madrigals to Scottish folk songs and our
national favourite 'Auld Lang Syne'. As well as the programme
organised by the Festival, we also took part in a service at a
Portuguese church on the outskirts of Paris, where we sang
Schubert's Mass in C, which was broadcast on Portuguese radio!
The event was a real success - so much so that the choir
organised a fantastic trip to Prague
later that year!
